Chemistry has broad implications in other fields and is conducive to interdisciplinary research development. The UGA Department of Chemistry is an integral part of centers of excellence in computational chemistry (CCQC), in the study of metallobiomolecules (CMS) and in thin film materials. Several Chemistry faculty are also active members of the Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute. In addition, the Department has strong interactions with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences, and with the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center.
