The Departments of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences are thrilled to announce that Dr. David Crich, an international expert in Carbohydrate Chemistry and Antimicrobial Drug Design, has joined the University of Georgia as a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in August of 2019. Dr. Crich was most recently on the faculty at Wayne State University, where he was the A. Paul and Carol C. Schaap Professor of Organic Chemistry. He has mentored over 100 PhD students and postdoctoral scholars, and published over 350 papers, with research supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Swiss National Science Foundation, among others. Dr. Crich has received multiple recognitions for his research program, including the ACS Cope Scholar Award, the C. S. Hudson Award, the Emil Fischer Award, and the Whistler Prize.
