The Department of Chemistry is strongly committed to the success of its undergraduate majors. We offer a full range of academic course work, as well as numerous research opportunities.

All Chemistry majors are advised in the department by a full-time academic advisor, starting with their first semester at UGA. Students make an appointment each semester with their academic advisor, during which they plan for the next semester and get cleared to register for classes. Advisors can also assist students with a wide range of academic concerns, and can provide references to other resources available at UGA. Specific questions about Chemistry may also be referred to the Undergraduate Coordinator for the Chemistry Department.

If you are considering changing your major to Chemistry, you should contact the academic advisor with any questions. If you have already changed your major, please notify the advisor and then you will be provided with information on how to schedule an advising appointment. In addition, if you are already a Chemistry major, but have not been contacted the Chemistry advisor, please do so as soon as possible.
